What you need:

  • ½ cup of semolina
  • ½ cup of wheat germ
  • ½ cup of honey
  • 1 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. lemon zest

Why you need them:

Semolina and wheat germ make very good scrubs. The texture is very gentle and light, making them an excellent choice for those who have sensitive skin or painful skin eruptions.

Along with exfoliating the skin, in combination with lemon juice and lemon zest, they remove blemishes and cure pigmentation problems.

Honey acts as a great anti-aging agent and moisturizer. It is rich in natural antioxidants that have anti-microbial properties. They help protect your skin from harmful UV rays and facilitate the skin’s ability to rejuvenate. Honey also has the ability to absorb and retain moisture and this helps in keeping the skin well hydrated, fresh and supple.

How to make the body scrub:

Mix the semolina, wheat germ, honey, lemon zest and lemon juice so you get a nice, thick paste. Make sure the semolina and the wheat germ are grainy, but have no sharp particles that might scratch your skin. Take some scrub on the palm of your hands and gently apply in a circular motion all over your body. Add a few drops of water if it feels too dry. Massage for 5 minutes and rinse with water. Pat dry and follow with a deep-moisturizing lotion.

How often?

Use this homemade body scrub once a week.
