10 Extra Tips For Caring For Damaged Hair

1. Follow a healthy diet that is rich in dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, protein, sources of vitamin A, B-12 and E, and omega 3 fatty acids.

2. Try to not use any heat on your hair. Ideally, you should air dry your hair, but if you must use a blow dryer, use the cool blast setting. Also, don’t use curling irons, flat irons or hot rollers (if you have to do it, make sure to use the protector spray).

3. When applying a deep conditioning treatment, too much oil can cause your hair to appear greasy, so be careful not to over-do it.

4. On days that you are not moisturizing your hair, after you shampoo your hair, apply a conditioner and leave it in for 5 minutes or longer. Conditioning prevents dryness and brittleness, which makes for healthier, shinier looking hair.

5. Don’t wash your hair every day. This dries it out because shampooing too often removes the natural oils from your hair, making it more weak, brittle and prone to breakage. Only use shampoo on your scalp, in small quantities – when you rinse it will clean the rest of your hair. Once a week you can add 4-5 drops of vitamin E to your shampoo – it will help your hair look healthy, shiny and silky.
